Intentionally Intentional

If you think about it, we all have words or phrases that encompass the things that a year will teach us. In 2016, my word has been intentional. The things I’m learning, the actions I’m trying to pursue and the relationships I’m trying to build all have the common theme of intentionality.

Intention: made, given, or done with full awareness of what one is doing

Words synonymous with intention: conscious, deliberate, calculated, considered, thoughtful, reasoned, premeditative and voluntary.

Let that definition sink in. Let those words float through your brain. Are you living life with intention? Probs not. At least in every aspect of your life. I wasn’t. It takes an extraordinary amount of self discipline and introspection and challenging yourself to think less about yourself. Bringing more intention to your life means bringing more empathy, compassion, understanding etc. into your relationships with other people. To be intentional is to be aware.

I could go on and on about the different ways to bring a little intention to your life, but I have decided to spread it out over a series throughout the month of August. You are welcome.  I’m going to discuss things like working with intention, networking with intention, being intentional as a friend and family member, dating with intention etc. I hope you will join me as we dive into this conversation together. It’s about to get real y’all.
